If you put it outside of yourself, it is easier to see.

I don’t know what I am going to paint. Not knowing gives me freedom to have the experience and to escape the confines of my mind. Planning contradicts the idea that I understand what I might want from it. Even when a painting is finished, the subject remains ambiguous although evidence of the past is contained in its layers.
