CALL FOR ARTISTS

Small Works 2027: The Still Small Voice

Upstream Gallery, Hastings on Hudson NY

January 7 to January 24

We’re calling this exhibition, The Still Small Voice, a phrase found in 1st Kings 19 that refers to Elijah’s experience of the divine on Mount Horeb. In modern terms it symbolizes the idea that spiritual communion grows from quiet reflection, not overwhelming spectacle. We felt it was an apt metaphor summoning artistic, moral and personal tranquility amid our current worldly disruptions.

We're inviting artists to submit small works that exemplify quiet reflection. Representational and abstract styles in drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, sculpture and any blend of these are eligible. Maximum framed size may not exceed 20 inches in any dimension. Please no photography. We’re reserving photography for another exhibition in February.

Specifications: All work must be suitably framed and wired for hanging. Maximum framed size may not exceed 20 inches in any direction. 3D work not for hanging should be accompanied by an appropriate stand. The gallery reserves the right to reject poorly presented pieces.
