Twenty-three years ago when her son went missing in Brooklyn, Madge Scott picked up a discarded paint set of her daughter's. She didn't dream of the outcome — she only wanted to engage her mind. By the time her son was found, she had already decided to press on with this new-found love. Working in nursing, she used almost every minute of her spare time to draw, and began experimenting with paints and colors later. Her coworkers encouraged her to press on with her new calling. She created for quite a few years before she moved to Hastings-on-Hudson in 2002.

Her work was discovered by two Hastings residents who encouraged her to exhibit, which she did very successfully in October of 2005 at the FRC Gallery in Hastings. Since then, Madge has shown in the Congo (through the U.S. State Department Art in Embassies program) various galleries in Universities, Consulates, Municipalities, Libraries, the Katonah Museum, Playhouse Set in Nyack, private organizations, Arts Westchester, two documentaries by City Lore, restaurants, cafes and more.

An award-winning artist, her accolades include The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Award, Westchester County Board of Legislature proclamation, The Preservation Company, and MBHSAA, located in Westchester County.
