Drawing is the basis of Arline Simon’s work,
whether it takes form in abstract collage, representational painting
or three dimensional construction.
She is a graduate of The Cooper Union, and a recipient of two artist in resident grants:
Altos de Chavon in the Dominican Republic and Fundacion Valparaiso, Mojacar, Spain.
Simon paints what she knows, concentrating on themes that have marked her work:
land and seascapes, memorable landmarks (not necessarily by grand scale), and commonplace objects.
She maintains studios in Yonkers NY
and on Monhegan Island, ME.
